La Nueva Ola de Cumbia are here to help you get the party started with their debut album, Llegó La Nueva Ola.
Across its 12 tracks, La Nueva Ola de La Cumbia take traditional rhythms of cumbia and blend them with indie rock, emo music, banda-style arrangements, merengue, electronic music, and even lucha libre, all to take us into a new dimension of vibrant groove and flavor.
Case in point: “Casada Con La Cumbia,” the focus track of the album, brings our emotions straight to the dance floor. Chelyn Dion, the group’s lead vocalist, sings about an impossible romance through an undeniable truth: although she feels attracted to this person, her true passion is cumbia. In this way, the singer clears up fans’ curiosity about her love life, making it clear that her only true love is music.
In addition to this standout track, ‘Llegó La Nueva Ola’ is built with other songs that range from party vibes to humor, passing through melancholy and emotional depth. Alongside previously released tracks like “Llegó La Nueva Ola,”“Riki Ran,” “Cumbiando,” and “Mujeriego,” the album also includes “Lucha Libre,”“Viernes de Peligro,” and a series of incredible covers such as “Los Malaventurados No Lloran” (a tropical reinterpretation of the Pxndx classic), “Guitarras Blancas” (an anthem by Los Enanitos Verdes), and “Para No Verte Más” (a heartfelt rendition originally by La Mosca Tsé-Tsé). Finally, it features a remix of “Riki Ran” and a new version of their song “Empastillado,” this time with MIKI as a special guest.
