Xolalpa lands at Cannes with ‘SVGS’ starring Vadhir Derbez & Elyfer Torres

There is no stopping him, for the second year in a row Jorge Xolalpa has landed at Cannes, last year his film MELANCOLíA starring Alessandra Rosaldo, Plutarco Haza, and Laura Flores made its debut, this time around its SVGS starring Vadhir Derbez and Elyfer Torres.

Xolalpa, who is undocumented and a Dreamer couldn’t travel to Cannes, but this goes to prove that working hard and not giving up will make your dreams come true. This is what Xolapa said:

I feel very proud of the work that I continue to do, because it represents my community, a community that doesn’t need a paper to define their existence.

The film, pronounced ‘Savages,’ follows a young couple who on the night of celebrating their anniversary, decide to test the strength of their relationship and push each other to their mental and physical limits. What was supposed to be a romantic night takes a deadly turn.

SVGS is Xolalpa’s sixth film, it was shot over the course of six days within his own home. Val Valdez and Sara Seligman produced the film, which is from Xolalpa’s Mighty Aphrodite Pictures.

Derbez and Torres are represented by UTA. Xolalpa and Torres are managed by Valdez at Los Angeles and London-based management and production company Avatar. Derbez is managed by Larry Robinson, also at Avatar.
