The cast of “WandaVision” Talk About The Highly-Anticipated Series, Now Streaming on Disney+

With a current stay at home still set in most places around the country, the cast of Marvel Studios x Disney+’s WandaVision came together for a virtual press conference.

They talked about bringing Marvel to the small screen, what it was like working on Marvel’s first-ever comedy series, how the series will intertwine with previous Marvel films and future films.

Family Matters star Jaleel White moderated the Zoom press conference, WandaVision stars Elizabeth OlsenPaul BettanyTeyonah Parris, and Kathyrn Hahn participated along with series director Matt Shakman, series head writer Jac Schaeffer, and president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige.

Director Matt Shakman had this to say about the series:

It’s a mash-up of classic sitcoms and large-scale Marvel action. I think it’s really lovely that the first streaming show from Marvel Studios—producer of huge blockbuster films—is really a love letter to the history of television.

We wanted to be as authentic as possible. That was one of the biggest goals—production design, cinematography, costuming, everything—I went on this deep dive, and with the actors, we all wanted to do the same thing.

Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff, talked about working in-front of a live studio audience. Yes, a live studio audience, this is what she said:

It was so nerve-wracking, and there was a lot of adrenaline. There were a lot of quick changes, and it totally confused my brain.

The idea of not playing for an audience, but feeding off an audience, and having a camera…. I was really grateful when we added the fourth wall for the second episode.

Having watched the first three episodes, we can tell you that you will be confused, but it all comes together. How? The series features retro commercials, that connect to some of the movies and might even reveal what’s to come. Shakman said:

If this is the very first Marvel MCU thing you’re watching then it’s just a strange version of a ‘50s commercial or a ‘60s commercial that you’ll have to keep watching the series to understand. If you have been watching all the movies, you might be able to start connecting what those things mean to the past.

WandaVision is nine-episodes long, you can NOW stream episode 1 & 2 on Disney+. New episodes will premiere every Friday, leading to its season finale on March 5th.
