Redbox, America’s leading destination for low-cost new-release movie and video game rentals, today announced the latest enhancement to the company’s customer experience: the launch of the Redbox® skill for Amazon Alexa.

Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service, and the new skill for Alexa-enabled devices makes discovering what’s new at Redbox easy and fun.

Redbox fans can ask Alexa which new-release movies and games are available at their local kiosks, or ask about specific titles, including its plot, rating, or who stars in a movie.

For example, just ask Alexa, “Alexa, ask Redbox…:

  • “What new movies are at Redbox?”
  • “What video games does Redbox have?”
  • “Where are the Redbox kiosks near me?”
  • “What is coming soon to Redbox?”

Ash Eldifrawi, Chief Marketing, and Customer Experience Officer at Redbox said:

Redbox is always looking for new opportunities to enhance our customer’s experiences. We continue to connect the off-and on-line retail experience for our customers – giving them the option to reserve, browse and find locations online or via their phones. Now they can ask Alexa what’s new and coming soon at Redbox.

Amazon Alexa is built in the cloud, so it is always getting smarter. The more you use Alexa, the more it adapts to your speech patterns, vocabulary, and preferences with new features continually being added. Ask Alexa to answer questions, play music, hear the news, get weather and traffic reports, control your smart home, and more.

Redbox recently announced a national kiosk expansion that is well on its way to adding 1,500 net new rental kiosks in 2017 and more planned in 2018. By the end of this year, Redbox will have more than 41,500 kiosks nationwide, a total larger than the number of Starbucks and McDonald’s locations in the U.S. combined.
