Mexican Institute of Sound Releases “Teniente Harina,” Theme for Comedy Central and Prime Video’s New Series “Harina”

Comedy Central and Prime Video have enlisted Mexican Institute of Sound for the theme song for their new series “Harina” inspired by Backdoor’s homonymous viral sketch was the most viewed on Youtube México in 2019.

“Teniente Harina”, is a crazy cumbión that will have you dancing from start to finish, the song is featured in Mexican Institute of Sound‘s album Cumbia Manifesto. The original series premiered this week on March 9th on Comedy Central Latin America and on March 10th on Prime Video.

The unprecedented success of the sketch, Harina created a big buzz for the new series that was just released this week. Harina was the most shared and viewed video on YouTube in Mexico in 2019 and to date has accumulated more than 164 million views on the platforms it was available on in Latin America. “Harina” also generated hundreds of memes, parodies, and remixes inspired by the script and its characters.

Guillermo Villegas and Verónica Brava are “Harina” main characters and is directed by Salvador Espinosa (Club de Cuervos, Cómo sobrevivir soltero); and was written by Pedro Esteves Carlos Reichel. The series was developed additionally by Pedro Esteves y Carlos Reichel, Harina and Joe Rendón, Caridad Riol, Julio Berthely and Diego Zanassi. The adaptation of the script was led by Salvador Espinosa, Miguel Burra Pérez, Charlie Barrientos, Mauricio García and Jaime Muñoz de Baena. Harina and Backdoor are productions by son VIS.
