Joss Favela Makes History as First Regional Mexican Artist to Headline NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’

On the heels of his Latin GRAMMY® nomination for “Best Banda Album” for his latest LP Llegando al RanchoJoss Favela surprises fans and the music industry as the firs-ever Regional Mexican music artist to headline NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.

This concert series which began in 2008 now includes over 800 performances from some of the world’s most legendary artists.

Singing entirely in Spanish from his home studio in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Favela performed some of his biggest hits including “Bonita” and “Cuando Fuimos Nada” from his debut album Hecho a Mano (2016), “Pienso en Ti” from his second album Caminando (2019) which was originally a duet with Becky G“El Alumno,” a single from his latest album Llegando Al Rancho; as well as “Me Vas a Extrañar,” which he recorded with the female pop group Pandora in 2019. He even performed “La Mejor Versión de Mí,” which crossed over two years ago to become a mega-hit in the Latin pop, urban and tropical genres after being recorded by the Dominican star Natti Natasha.

For this concert, Joss is accompanied by his band as well as special guest Pliego Villarreal, bass player of the Monterrey, Mexico electronica group Kinky, whose keyboardist Ulises Lozano serves as the performance’s producer.
