J.I. Teams Up with Myke Towers For New Single and Video, “Spanglish”

Breakout rapper J.I. the Prince Of NY releases his new single and music video “Spanglish” featuring Latin trap rapper Myke Towers.

On this highly anticipated new songJ.I., who hails from Brooklyn, debuts his Spanish rapping skills while, for the first time, Myke sings in English. With this collaboration, both artists proudly represent their Puerto Rican roots by weaving their melodic styles into this rhythmic trap and reggaeton record.

The video is directed by fellow Puerto Rican, Eif Riviera. Riviera, who is an industry favorite and known for his unique color technique on film, deftly creates a juxtaposing world merging minimal color and refined set-design as the two artists tell a story about young crazy love.

Towers opens up the video by expressing how his female love interest drives him insane and makes his mind talk in “Spanglish.” J.I. adds a nod in his lyrics to fellow famous Puerto Rican singer and iconic Salsa star Jerry Rivera, where J.I. unleashes his epic lyrics, “cara de niño y alma de hombre (Face of a child, but a soul of a man).” In the standout piece, J.I. connects his New York upbringing to at-home Spanish upbringing with his culture’s music.
