Halloween Horror Nights Returns to Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood

The wait is finally over, what felt like a century-long wait, Universal Studios Hollywood has welcomed back Halloween Horror Nights and it did not disappoint.

Thanks to UniStudios, we had the opportunity to attend the opening night of HHN on September 9th, to say that we screamed and freaked out, is an understatement. We had an absolutely horrifyingly good time, it was a two-year wait, but definitely worth it.

The 2021 event featured mazes based on Halloween 4, “Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives,” “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,”The Exorcist,” “The Curse of Pandora’s Box” “Terror Tram: The Ultimate Purge,” and “The Haunting of Hill House.” Which were our favorite mazes? Check out our ranking…

  1. Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein,” hands down a fun maze with a killer soundtrack by the iconic, Slash.
  2. Halloween 4,” it’s Michael Myers the king of Halloween, shall we say more?
  3. The Exorcist” & “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” two iconic films brought to life, y’all if you get sick easily, wear a double mask when going into TCM, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
  4. Terror Tram,” maybe it was because of opening night, but I personally felt a bit underwhelmed, but hopefully as the event progresses the actors will get more into character!
  5. Curse of Pandora’s Box,” kuddos for it being an original maze, but it’s a recycled maze from 2019, but we know times are crazy, still a great maze, plus…neon paint!

Not a fan of all the gore and horror? Not to worry, HHN features a Dia de Los Muertos plaza this year, right across from the Bride of Frankenstein. The area is decked out in papel picado, there are tables, there’s a catrina and skeleton walking around greeting guests, there are various photo-op spots, two wise-cracking skeletons, a bar, and a food court with delicious Mexican foods. What kind of food? Churros, Tamales, Birria Tacos, Elote with chili and cheese. A great spot chill, get a drink or two, I may or may not have walked the mazes a bit buzzed.
