Children’s book authors Griselda Torres and Mateo Rodriguez, the mother-and-son duo behind the acclaimed cultural literacy initiative Somos Historia, have signed with NYTA PR for public relations representation.
The partnership comes as Torres and Rodriguez continue to expand their mission of preserving and celebrating Mexican history and culture through children’s literature. Their latest book, Las Adelitas: Heroínas de la Revolución, introduces young readers to the courageous women who played a vital role during the Mexican Revolution, offering an engaging and accessible look at a chapter of history that has often gone untold.
The book was inspired by Mateo Rodriguez’s passion for Mexican history and culture—a passion that grew from years of bedtime storytelling with his mother. Those shared moments eventually evolved into Somos Historia, a family-driven literary platform dedicated to fostering cultural pride, promoting literacy, and connecting readers with meaningful stories.
“Somos Historia began as a way to turn everyday life into a world of imagination for Mateo,” said Griselda Torres. “What started with bedtime stories became a place where we could learn, dream, and reconnect with our roots. His love for history inspired us to create stories that remind young readers that understanding where we come from strengthens who we are.”
In addition to Las Adelitas: Heroínas de la Revolución, the pair are also the authors of Mi Corazón Es Mexicano, another children’s title celebrating Mexican heritage, traditions, and identity.
Beyond writing, Torres and Rodriguez have built Somos Historia into a growing online community where they share book recommendations across genres while encouraging families to embrace reading as a pathway to education, empathy, and cultural understanding.
“Books have the power to change lives,” the authors shared. “If you haven’t found the book that changes yours yet, don’t give up—you simply haven’t found the right one.”
Under the guidance of NYTA PR, Torres and Rodriguez will continue expanding their media presence, literary partnerships, speaking opportunities, and community outreach as they champion diverse storytelling and inspire the next generation of readers.
