Comic-Con Signa Contract with San Diego Through 2021

Comic-Con fans rejoice, the pop culture convention is staying put in San Diego until 2021.

The renewal comes ahead of the start of this year’s convention, which runs July 20-23 at the San Diego Convention Center and an ever-growing list of surrounding venues

San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer spread the news via social media, he said:

While it did take more than a year in negotiations, we are pleased with this outcome. We are grateful for the leadership of Mayor Faulconer and the hard work of those at the San Diego Tourism Authority who were instrumental in securing this agreement.

Comic-Con was born in San Diego in 1970 as a one-day event for comics fans at the U.S. Grant Hotel in downtown. It since has become a must-attend for film studios and TV networks to pitch their wares to avid fanbases.
