Carin Leon Becomes First Regional Mexican Artist To Participate In Spotify Singles, Spotify’s EXCLUSIVE Series of Original Recordings

There’s no stopping him, singer-songwriter and sensation from Sonora, Mexico, Carin Leon launches two songs exclusively as part of Spotify Singles, becoming the first Regional Mexican artist to be part of this series of original recordings from the renowned platform.

Taking his own version of two songs, Carin recreates “Cobarde” (Side A) and covers a version of Extreme’s 90’s hit, “More Than Words” (Side B).

Recorded in his hometown of Hermosillo, Sonora, Carin wanted to give fans another take on his song Cobarde by providing a sense of versatility to the traditional Regional Mexican rhythm—  the cover gives mellow and acoustic pop feel without losing the essence of its original sierreño arrangement. Leon said about the track:

this was the first single of my upcoming album and I felt that it was a song that lends itself to be recorded with another essence.

For his second song, Leon had this to say about choosing “More Than Words”:

This song has broken cultural and generational barriers. We are experiencing something similar in the Regional Mexican genre by breaking down barriers of genres, countries and ideas and I wanted to reflect that.

Both songs were produced by Carin himself, together with Javier González “El Tamarindo” and Orlando Aispuro – who also participates as the recording engineer. The executive production was in charge of Michele Santucci and William Garrett and the mixing was done by Alberto Medina.
