NYTA Public Relations has announced the signing of award-winning queer activist, best-selling author, social entrepreneur and cultural commentator Julio C. Roman.
Roman is the author of the acclaimed memoir and leadership guide, Out of Space: Creating Safe Spaces in Unlikely Places, which explores his experiences as a queer Puerto Rican navigating identity, adversity and leadership while offering a powerful framework for creating inclusive spaces in communities and workplaces.
For more than 24 years, Roman has worked to advance LGBTQIA+ equality, HIV/AIDS awareness, public health and social justice. His advocacy has taken him to Capitol Hill, the U.S. Department of State, the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations. He has also been recognized by Insider NJ’s “OUT 100: The LGBT Power List” and Crain’s New York Business as one of its Notable Hispanic Leaders.
“Julio’s work represents the kind of meaningful, purpose-driven storytelling that NYTA Public Relations was created to amplify,” said Jorge Xolalpa, Founder and CEO of NYTA Public Relations. “His commitment to creating safe spaces and empowering LGBTQIA+ and Latinx communities is extraordinary. We are honored to help expand the visibility of his book, advocacy and ongoing work as a national leader and changemaker.”
Roman is the founder and CEO of OUT Agency, a social-impact company that partners with organizations and leaders to create conscious, inclusive environments where collaboration and growth can thrive. His extensive experience includes organizational and leadership development, fundraising, HIV prevention, harm reduction and community mobilization.
Throughout his career, Roman has helped establish LGBTQIA+ community centers, elevate public-health research to national platforms and secure critical support for LGBTQIA+ initiatives. He has also served in leadership and advisory capacities with organizations including the Latino Commission on AIDS, the Puerto Rican Family Institute, the Association of Latino Professionals for America and the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement.
“Signing with NYTA Public Relations marks an exciting new chapter in my journey,” said Roman. “My mission has always been to create spaces where people—especially those from LGBTQIA+, Latinx and other historically marginalized communities—feel seen, protected and empowered. I look forward to working with NYTA to bring that message to an even wider audience.”
Through this new partnership, NYTA Public Relations will lead media outreach and publicity efforts surrounding Roman’s literary work, public speaking, advocacy and expanding portfolio of social-impact initiatives.
Roman’s signing reflects NYTA Public Relations’ continued commitment to representing authors, filmmakers, advocates and cultural leaders whose stories challenge convention, create meaningful conversations and elevate underrepresented communities.
