Post Cereals and Indie Rockers OK GO Face-Off over Name

The milk has been spilled, and the cereal is on the floor because indie rockers OK GO and Post Cereals are facing off over the brand’s new OK GO! cereal cups.

According to this Post Cereal Story, the corporation is suing the indie rock band to stop the band from preventing the corporation from trademarking the name “OK Go!,” according to the lawsuit filed in mid-January, there would be “no confusion” among consumers who would attempt to differentiate the band and the cereal. The corporation wants to trademark the name with an exclamation point (!) to differentiate.

On the other hand, OK Go are arguing that they have held a trademark for the name “OK Go” for over fifteen years (without the exclamation point), but they have also collaborated with Post Cereals on various of their brands including Honey Bunches of Oats.

A source said:

It’s a multibillion dollar corporation versus a small indie rock band. The band has been using OK Go for 25 years. They’re being bullied.

Post Cereals is requesting that a judge rule that the company can proceed with the trademark application and receive attorney fees.

  1. Wanted to try the product but after they did what they did, I decided not to support companies with unethical stance.

  2. They have collborated with OK Go before and now they are trying to steal their name. It’s just downright rude!!

  3. They have collaborated with OK Go before and now they are trying to steal their name. It’s just downright rude!!

  4. When I hear OK Go, I want to remember the band I’ve loved for years, not some water cereal!!

  5. This is just upsetting. Just let OK Go to have their name so they can focus on making epic music, rather than wasting time and energy fighting this battle.

  6. This is beyond ridiculous! Suing the band because they couldn’t think of any other names for their cereal. SMH

  7. They don’t deserve to be bullied like this. I really hope they win this.
