NYTA Public Relations is proud to announce the signing of Dr. Alejandra Acuña, author, therapist, speaker and retired tenured professor of social work, for representation and a new publicity campaign surrounding her work, expertise and acclaimed book, Stones, Flowers, and Lessons Learned.
A proud Chicana with a career spanning academia, mental health, social work and community service, Dr. Acuña has dedicated her professional life to helping individuals and communities navigate adversity, strengthen resilience and create meaningful change.
Her book, Stones, Flowers, and Lessons Learned, brings those worlds together through an intimate combination of personal storytelling, ancestral knowledge, research and mental health expertise. Written for readers who have carried the weight of their past while searching for the courage to move forward, the book explores how life’s challenges can become sources of wisdom, growth and transformation.
“Life will hand you stones. It will also give you flowers. And in between? The lessons that will set you free.”
Through its campaign with Dr. Acuña, NYTA Public Relations will focus on expanding the author’s national visibility and introducing her story and expertise to audiences across television, digital media, print, podcasts and other platforms. The campaign will highlight conversations surrounding mental health, resilience, Chicana identity, generational healing, women’s empowerment, education and the intersection between lived experience and professional expertise.
Dr. Acuña brings decades of experience to those conversations. Throughout her career, she has worked across nonprofit community-based organizations, child protective services, children’s hospitals, county agencies and public-school districts. Her academic career has included teaching at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), UCLA and California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA), where her commitment to education and student mentorship earned her local and national recognition.
For NYTA Public Relations, Acuña’s signing reflects the agency’s continued commitment to representing authors, artists, experts and storytellers whose work brings underrepresented perspectives into larger cultural conversations.
“Dr. Alejandra Acuña represents exactly the kind of voice we want to amplify at NYTA,” said Jorge Xolalpa, Founder of NYTA Public Relations. “She brings together lived experience, cultural identity and decades of professional knowledge in a way that feels deeply human. Stones, Flowers, and Lessons Learned isn’t simply about overcoming difficult moments; it’s about understanding what those moments teach us and what we choose to carry forward. We’re excited to help introduce Alejandra and her work to a much wider audience.”
Based in Los Angeles, Dr. Acuña continues to work with individuals and organizations to foster well-being, leadership and personal transformation. Beyond her professional work, she maintains a deep connection to Mexico and her cultural roots, which inform both her writing and her perspective on healing and identity.
With her partnership with NYTA Public Relations, Dr. Acuña enters the next chapter of her platform with a campaign designed to expand the reach of Stones, Flowers, and Lessons Learned while establishing her as an important voice in conversations around mental health, culture, resilience and personal growth.
