We had the opportunity to talk to Mike Miller, from the captivating suspense drama A DARK PLACE.
We talked to Miller about his role as Keith, executive producer of the film, about future plans, and what it was like being part of an ensemble of such talented actors.
ERocks: First and foremost, A Dark Place was phenomenal, the acting and story are very impactful. Tell us what it was like working on the film.
Miller: Thank you, that means a lot, hearing those words is just awesome. Working on the film was incredible to work on, the story itself was very impactful and the cast was just phenomenal, every single actor is very talented.
ERocks: The characters and storyline are fictitious, but is there any realness to the film and characters?
Miller: I’m not sure if the characters and storyline are real, but Christopher Pinero (director and producer) told me that he had these haunting visions/dreams of this story and characters. That’s how the film came to be.
ERocks: Wow, and it was amazing. From beginning to end the movie had me on the edge of my seat, the movie has some superb acting, but Luke Baines is seriously haunting, he kind of looks like a serial killer. What was it like working with him?
Miller: *laughs* Yeah, working with Luke was something. There was this scene, I don’t remember which one, but Luke is there, it took me out of it, it was intense but so good. I went back and looked at the scene after we were done and I got chills. Luke is phenomenal, he brought something special to this movie and that’s exactly what I told Christopher after we were done, this movie is indeed special.
ERocks: A special movie indeed, I’m raving about this movie, because it’s that good. I have to ask, what was it like portraying the role of Keith, he’s a bit much in the movie.
Miller: *laughs* Yeah, he was something. I’m nothing like him in real life, but playing this character was interesting. I got to explore a new side of me that I didn’t think I could play.
ERocks: A Dark Place is one of those movies that grabs you and doesn’t let go, from the very first scene I was hooked. What are your future plans after this movie?
Miller: That seriously means a lot hearing those words make me feel good, thank you. As for future plans, I’m working on a movie with Jazlyn, who also stars in the film, I can’t say anything about the film, but it is an indie movie. I’m excited to get started on it, trust me you’ll be in for a treat.
A DARK PLACE follows Alex, a twenty-something struggling to put his life back together after mistakes and a reckless past render his job search hopeless. While pressure from his pregnant girlfriend mounts, he runs into an old friend who gives him an opportunity to turn it all around. Just when things are looking up, Alex discovers a secret that sends him into a self-destructive downward spiral, bringing his two best friends down with him.
