Universal Studios Hollywood is getting ready for the grand opening of its DreamWorks Theater ‘Kung Fu Panda: The Emperors Quest’ on June 15th.
To celebrate the grand opening, we were invited a couple of weeks back to take a behind the scenes tour of the new attraction and it was AMAZING.
Inspired by the global blockbuster franchise, the multi-sensory adventure will take guests on a thrilling journey that fuses captivating animated storytelling with state-of-the art visual effects for a highly engaging experience.
Without giving too much away, we can tell you that “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” will introduce the first-ever integration of interior projection mapping designed to engulf guests in 180 degrees of immersive adventure.
We talked to Jon Corfino from the Universal Creative team and he told us some interesting facts about the creative process.
Corfino said that Universal and DreamWorks teamed up with the idea of a new attraction at first it wasn’t clear who would be the star, but after much planning it was decided Po would be the star. When Corfino was asked, “Why Kung Fu Panda?” he simply replied with “Why not? It’s one of DreamWorks most successful film franchises and the characters are iconic.”
