Carin León and Leon Brides Team Up on New SingleE “It Was Always You (Siempre Fuiste Tú)”

Global Mexican superstar Carin León and GRAMMY®- award-winning R&B artist Leon Bridges team up on their new single “It Was Always You (Siempre Fuiste Tú),” a groundbreaking collaboration representing an extraordinary crossover between American R&B and Mexican music.

Produced by Edgar Barrera (Shakira, Maluma, Grupo Frontera) and CASTA (Karol G, Becky G, Manuel Turizo), the track features the triumphant story of a scorned lover finally learning to forgive himself, realizing the fault for his heartbreak lies with just one person: his ex.

León said about the track:

This song with my friend Leon is very important to me.

It’s another huge moment for American roots music and música Mexicana, uniting two languages that, despite having so much in common, need music to express their solidarity. Creating this song makes me feel refreshed as a creative and a musician and will feel refreshing to Leon’s fans and my fans alike. It features production from Edgar Barrera and CASTA, the talented Colombian that needs no introduction. Everything happens for a reason, and after holding this song for eight months, we are so happy with how this crossover worked out.

Bridges added:

‘It Was Always You’ is a breezy heartbreak tune about being in a toxic relationship but finding peace with moving on.

I first found out about Carin from some friends in Texas and knew I wanted to collaborate. I reached out directly, and he was game right away. I had the pleasure of going to Carin’s hometown of Hermosillo, Mexico to shoot the video and his family and community were so loving and hospitable. Mexican music and culture is laced all throughout Fort Worth, Texas, so doing this collab felt a bit like home to me.

León brought Bridges to his hometown of Sonora, Hermosillo to film the music video, which was directed by Willy Rodríguez.
