From the OSCARs to the Latin GRAMMYs, Xolalpa steps behind the lens to direct Candy Lover’s latest video for “Maldita Locura” featuring reggaeton superstar Ken-Y, the song and video are yet to premiere and talks about a possible Latin GRAMMY nomination have started circulating.
Xolalpa said:
This is my biggest project to date. I know I’ve directed several films with several movie stars, but to be given the opportunity to work with reggaeton legends at this point in my career is a blessing.
“Maldita Locura” will officially premiere on May 9th, the video will arrive on May 10th. Dancer, actor, and choreographer Alexis Vázquez collaborated with Xolalpa to create the choreography.

As a Puerto Rican Choreographing my first music video for 2 major Puerto Rican artists is beyond me it’s beyond us, creating the process I felt my ancestors in the room! Estos para la raza! Super grateful!
“Maldita Locura” is being produced as part of Xolalpa’s company, Mighty Aphrodite Pictures with cinematography by Luis Adrian Lara.
Jorge who’s established himself as the next director to look out for has achieved major milestones, like his film “Your Iron Lady” received Academy Award buzz, working with Latin superstar Alessandra Rosaldo on “Melancolía” and most recently on LGBTQ+ series “Strange Love” set to premiere on Prime Video in the fall. It’s safe to say that Xolalpa is a rising star, keep an eye out for him!
