TelevisaUnivision announced that Antonio Banderas will be honored with the Agent of Change award for his impact on education, social action, and community development.
The “Agent of Change” recognition honors artists who leverage their platform to transform communities and inspire new generations, cementing Antonio Banderasas the honoree for his commitment to community well-being through projects focused on education, social action, and expanding opportunities for vulnerable populations. In 2010, he established the Lágrimas y Favores Foundation as a social impact vehicle in Málaga designed to strengthen year-round solidarity efforts by supporting cultural and educational initiatives, as well as charitable organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for those most in need. Among the foundation’s beneficiaries are the University of Málaga, CUDECA, AECC, Cáritas, Fundación El Pimpi, and the Economato Social Corinto, among others.
His commitment to philanthropy is also reflected in his role co-hosting, alongside Sandra García-Sanjuán, the Starlite Gala organized by the Starlite Foundation. Over its 17 editions, this charity event has raised more than €4 million and has become one of the leading platforms supporting its social impact initiatives. The Gala generates nearly 90% of the funds raised by the Lágrimas y Favores Foundation and extends its impact to international initiatives such as Niños en Alegría, which has built 41 schools in Mexico, benefiting more than 75,000 children.
