The Cure‘s rock classic “Boys Don’t Cry” has entered the Spotify “Billions Club.” The band has announced a limited-edition reissue of the single. It will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms.
Released in 1979, “Boys Don’t Cry” was originally released as a stand-alone single. It was then used as the title track to the 1980 compilation album Boys Don’t Cry. This album was essentially the US release of The Cure’s 1979 debut album, Three Imaginary Boys. In 1986, it reached a bigger audience. It was remixed and re-released as “Boys Don’t Cry (New Voice – New Mix).”
The 1986 mix was never released digitally, but will now hit digital service providers on January 30th. That’s not all. “Boys Don’t Cry” will be reissued on 12″ vinyl, 7″ vinyl, and CD. The 12″ vinyl (out April 21st) and CD (out January 30th) will contain two remastered mixes of “Boys Don’t Cry.” They will also include the B-sides “Plastic Passion,” “Pillbox Tales,” and “Do the Hansa.”
