‘Strangelove’ Creator Jorge Xolalpa Signs With POSH Talent Agency

Acclaimed filmmaker and creative force Jorge Xolalpa has signed with POSH Talent Agency for commercial and theatrical representation. The move marks a major step forward in a fast-rising career that continues to gain momentum across the board.

Xolalpa rose to prominence with his feature film Your Iron Lady, a powerful and deeply personal drama inspired by his mother’s unpublished memoir. The film offers an intimate portrait of an undocumented mother’s strength, dignity, and sacrifices as seen through the eyes of her son, weaving a narrative that is both specific in its cultural detail and universal in its emotional impact. Your Iron Lady earned critical acclaim on the festival circuit and drew recognition from members of the Golden Globes voting body for its poignant storytelling and evocative direction. The film established Xolalpa as a bold, socially-conscious filmmaker with a distinctive cinematic voice, unafraid to confront difficult truths through deeply human, character-driven stories.

He is also the creator of the hit series Strangelove, a cultural breakout series that has quickly become a streaming sensation and a defining voice in contemporary television. Celebrated for its sharp wit, unapologetic exploration of love and identity, and groundbreaking representation, Strangelove has resonated deeply with audiences seeking fresh, authentic stories. Out Magazine notably hailed the series as “The Latinx Sex and the City,” praising its blend of humor, style, and emotional honesty. Critics have lauded Strangelove for pushing boundaries and expanding the narrative landscape for Latinx characters on screen, while its distinctive visual style and fearless storytelling have set a new standard for inclusive, genre-defying television. The show’s critical success and cultural relevance have positioned Xolalpa as a creative force to watch.

Next up, Xolalpa is set to direct Huehxolotl, an intense immigration thriller unfolding in the heart of Los Angeles that sheds light on the current crisis of illegal deportations happening across the United States. The film dives deep into the fear, trauma, and resilience experienced by immigrant communities as they navigate a fractured system rife with injustice. Currently in pre-production and slated to begin filming in Summer 2025, Huehxolotl represents Xolalpa’s most ambitious project yet—both in scope and emotional weight. As a DACA recipient, Xolalpa brings a profoundly personal connection to the story, infusing it with authenticity and compassion drawn from his own lived experience. His unique perspective offers a powerful counter-narrative to mainstream depictions of immigration, amplifying voices that are too often marginalized and silenced. Through Huehxolotl, Xolalpa aims to illuminate the human cost of deportations while challenging audiences to confront the urgent realities faced by millions.

In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Xolalpa serves as the President and CEO of Mighty Aphrodite Pictures, a production company he founded with a mission to elevate underrepresented voices and tell bold, authentic stories that challenge the status quo. Mighty Aphrodite Pictures is the creative force behind acclaimed films such as Valentina (2017) , Your Iron Lady (2020) and MELANCOLiA (2021), with the highly anticipated Lolita set for release in 2025. Currently, Xolalpa is developing a television adaptation of La Casa De Los Secretos, a novel by María De Lourdes Victoria, in collaboration with Palomera Group. Through these projects and partnerships, Mighty Aphrodite Pictures continues to cultivate a diverse slate of content that sparks meaningful conversations and amplifies voices often overlooked in mainstream media.

With representation at POSH Talent Agency for commercial and theatrical work, Xolalpa is not only expanding his presence on screen but also amplifying his creative vision behind the camera. He continues to craft compelling stories that challenge conventions, inspire audiences, and resonate across diverse communities. Recognized as a filmmaker to watch, Xolalpa’s distinctive voice is helping to shape the future of inclusive, thought-provoking storytelling that pushes boundaries and sparks meaningful conversations.

Jorge Xolalpa continues to be represented by Palomera Group for writing, directing, and producing.
