In an unprecedented event, Netflix and the Mexico City Government, through the local Ministry of Culture, thrilled more than 170,000 attendees of all ages, who sang along to the songs that Juan Gabriel immortalized at the Palace of Fine Arts 35 years ago. The event also featured never-before-seen scenes from the iconic concert.
From early morning, fans of all ages, Juan Gabriel impersonators, and public figures gathered in the Zócalo, displaying posters, t-shirts, and clothing inspired by the Divo of Juárez. While eagerly awaiting the concert’s projection on giant screens, they discovered interesting facts and previously unseen images from the idol’s life, part of Alberto Aguilera’s personal archive.

Minutes before the screening began, María José Cuevas, the director of the documentary
Juan Gabriel: I Must, I Can, and I Will, along with producers Laura Woldenberg and Ivonne Gutiérrez, sang and danced with the attendees as they entered.
The celebration concluded with a performance by Mariachi Estrella de América, during which Alicia González, the fan who stole our hearts in the documentary’s third episode, demonstrated that love for Juan Gabriel lasts a lifetime. She recreated the moment when she sang “Yo no sé qué me pasó,” this time accompanied by her daughter and granddaughter.
