Los Mirlos — pioneers of Amazonian psychedelic cumbia — release “Eres Mentiroso” a collaboration with Bomba Estéreo, a reimagining of one of Los Mirlos’ most iconic songs, brought into the present through a dialogue between two key figures in Latin American tropical music.
Originally created as part of the sound Los Mirlos developed from the Peruvian Amazon in the 1970s, “Eres Mentiroso” retains its hypnotic rhythmic foundation while expanding in this new version through the contemporary sensibility of Bomba Estéreo, the Colombian band internationally recognized for pushing cumbia into electronic, alternative, and global spaces.
The result is a version that connects generations and geographies: the Peruvian rainforest and the Colombian Caribbean, Amazonian psychedelia and tropical electronics, tradition and contemporary exploration. More than a collaboration, “Eres Mentiroso” represents a meeting of two trajectories that have carried cumbia beyond its original borders, reaffirming its relevance as a shared cultural language.
