
Following its record-breaking theatrical run in Mexico, the romantic comedy “Mesa de Regalos,” starring Cassandra Sánchez Navarro and José Eduardo Derbez, is now available exclusively to audiences in the United States on Hulu and Disney+, as part of the unique strategic collaboration between Miércoles Entertainment Studios and both platforms.
The film ranked among the 15 highest-grossing Mexican films of all time and became the second most successful of the last decade. “Mesa de Regalos” attracted nearly 2 million moviegoers and grossed approximately $6.6 million at the box office, cementing its status as one of the standout successes in contemporary Mexican cinema.
In “Mesa de Regalos,” lifelong friends Nicolás and Antonia watch everyone around them finds emotional and professional stability while their own lives remain a mess. After attending more than a dozen weddings, and in desperate need of the financial boost to pursue their dreams, they hatch a daring yet brilliant plan: get married! Not for real, though. Their idea is to fake their love story, throw a grand wedding, collect all the gifts, and have Antonia leave Nicolás at the altar. They assume that, after the scandal, no one will dare ask for their gift back, leaving them to split the money and finally fund their ambitions.
The film is directed by Noé Santillán López and written by Juan Carlos Aparicio, Mateo Stivelberg and Daniela Richer. It also stars Verónica Bravo, Gustavo Egelhaaf, and Iran Castillo, with special appearances by Ariel López Padilla and Daniel Tovar.
