Jorge Xolalpa Launches Spanglish Apparel Brand, “Equis Way”

Award-winning filmmaker and soon to be best-selling author Jorge Xolalpa announces the launch of Equis Way, a bold new apparel brand inspired directly by the themes, heart, and cultural identity explored in his upcoming memoir, Ni De Aquí, Ni De Allá, releasing December 12, 2025.

Designed to accompany the book’s nationwide launch, Equis Way features a curated line of T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and accessories showcasing original sayings and phrases drawn from the memoir, expressions that speak to dual identity, resilience, Spanglish culture, humor, and the immigrant spirit. Each piece serves as an extension of Xolalpa’s story, offering readers and fans a wearable experience of the book’s most powerful messages.

The name Equis Way is inspired by the iconic Mexican slang phrase “equis wey”, which uses the Spanish word “equis”—the way the letter X is pronounced in Spanish. In Mexican culture, “equis wey” loosely means “whatever dude, don’t stress, just be yourself.” Xolalpa reimagines this expression by blending “equis” (X) with the English word “way”, creating a Spanglish identity that honors those who live between languages and cultures. The X (equis) also represents Xolalpa, symbolizing his fearless, empowered creative style, doing things the Xolalpa way. Equis Way ultimately becomes both a cultural nod and a personal statement: a reminder that everyone has their own “way” forward, and that embracing your identity is an act of strength.

Xolalpa said:

“This brand goes hand in hand with my book. The sayings, the humor, the pain, the pride, it’s all part of the world of Ni De Aquí, Ni De Allá: Pero Equis Way! Giving people a way to literally wear pieces of my story, which is also their story, and in doing so, we also celebrate their own.

The debut collection includes standout designs such as “Ni de aquí, ni de allá… but always on time… kinda,” “Fluent in Spanglish y sentimientos,” and the signature “Equis Way!” logo that has already gained early traction across social media. More phrases connected to the memoir’s chapters will roll out in additional drops leading up to and following the book release.

With the creation of Equis Way, Xolalpa continues expanding his creative ecosystem bridging literature, filmmaking, fashion, and cultural storytelling in a way that speaks directly to the communities he represents.
