Christopher Street West Association Announces Newly Elected Board as LA Pride Celebrates 55-Years

Christopher Street West Association—the nonprofit organization that produces the world-class LA Pride celebration, proudly marks 55 years of uplifting, celebrating, and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community.

Founded in 1970 as the organizer of the world’s first permitted LGBT parade, LA Pride has grown into one of the most recognized and influential Pride celebrations in California. For more than five decades, the organization has advanced LGBTQ+ visibility, championed inclusion, and created spaces where all identities are seen, celebrated, and supported.

This year, LA Pride continued its legacy of impact through dynamic Pride 365 programming, including:

  • The Salon Series, featuring a powerful National Coming Out Day conversation with LGBTQ+ leaders and advocates.
  • The Non-Ticketed LA Pride Festival, celebrating accessibility, inclusion, and community pride in the heart of Hollywood.
  • The launch of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), amplifying young queer voices and leadership across Los Angeles.
  • The inaugural celebration of Christopher Street West Day on June 28, officially recognized by the City of Los Angeles in honor of the organization’s founding.

Additionally, new leadership has been appointed to advance LA Pride’s influential impact on the LGBTQ+ community. Lawrence Carroll is the newly elected Board President, Kareem Cervantes will serve as LA Pride’s Vice President. The new board members joining LA Pride this term are Nik KacyThomas FergusonSteff JonesSara Brenner, and Andrew Honsey.
