Bad Bunny Kicks Off Historic “No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí” Residency in Puerto Rico

Global phenomenon and 3x GRAMMY® winner Bad Bunnykicked off his historic “NO ME QUIERO IR DE AQUÍ” residency at the iconic Coliseo de Puerto Rico with three sold-out shows, part of a nine-date series reserved exclusively for Puerto Rican residents. Performing each night in front of 15,000 people, Bad Bunny launched a residency unlike anything seen before. Never has a project of this scale and intention been rooted in an artist’s hometown, setting a new precedent for Puerto Rico and the world.

The three-hour-long show opens with Dayaneris Ortiz searching for her camera and Julito Gastónlooking for his tambor (drum), a moment that sets the tone for the residency’s core message: live in the moment. From there, the energy erupts as Bad Bunny surprises fans with “ALAMBRE PúA,” a new song, and delivers standout performances from his acclaimed sixth studio album, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” including fan favorites like “KETU TeCRÉ,” “EL CLúB,” and “PIToRRO DE COCO.”

“NO ME QUIERO IR DE AQUÍ” pays heartfelt tribute to Puerto Rico, weaving traditional island sounds into each performance and spotlighting notable local talent including ChuwiLos Pleneros de la Cresta, and Los SobrinosJosé Eduardo (cuatro), Antonio Caraballo (guitar), and Emanuel Santa (güiro). Thirty dancers join them onstage, bringing each moment to life through choreography that channels the island’s spirit, joy, and rhythm. The stage itself becomes a living canvas, featuring a massive LED screen, stretching across the ceiling, enveloping the venue in color, motion, and story. With combined sweeping visuals and dynamic pyrotechnics, the result is an all-encompassing experience that feels like Bad Bunny’s imagined world.

The immersive stage design, executed with the help of set designer Gabriela EscaleraMayna Magruder, production designer Monica MonserrateNatalia Rosa, and Rafi Pérez, and A1 Productions’ executive producer Sigfredo Bellaflores, pays tribute to Puerto Rico’s countryside, el campo, with the main stage modeled after the island’s lush mountainous landscape. It features symbolic imagery such as the flamboyant tree and staples pulled straight from the album’s cover, including plantain trees and plastic lawn chairs. A secondary stage resembles a traditional Puerto Rican home, the same one featured in the short film that announced the album.

Divided into five acts, each segment of the show carried its own weight and meaning. The acts were separated by captivating visuals, including short films starring Oscar-nominated actor Jacobo Morales and Concho, a stop-motion sidekick. The visuals were written by Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio and directed by Ari Maniel Cruz. Concho’s character was brought to life by 3D animator Kike Rivera of Acho Studios.

Throughout the night, Bad Bunny takes fans on a journey across every chapter of his career, performing beloved hits from “X100PRE,” “YHLQMDLG,” “Un Verano Sin Ti,” and “nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana.” Each song sparks waves of emotion, nostalgia, and pride, reaffirming the lasting impact of his catalog. He also welcomed special guests who embody the spirit and sound of Puerto Rico, including Jhayco and RaiNao on Saturday, and Jowell y Randy on Sunday. That same night, Pedro Capódelivered a heartfelt performance of “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii.”
