Rafael Nadal “collapses” during a press conference

…all we can say is ouch! Video has just been released of tennis player Rafael Nadal “collapsing” during a press conference. The reason for the collapse? Severe leg cramps.

Everything was going smootly during Sunday’s US Open press conference, until the last couple of minutes when Rafael leaned back in his chair with obvious pain in his face. The pain was so strong that he eventually slid out of his chair on to the floor. The press room was eventually cleared out to make room for medics that treated Nadal’s pain.

Five minutes later the press conference resumed and Rafael said he was feeling better. He stated, “I just have cramping in front and behind. That’s why I, was so painful. That’s all.” Later during the day Andy Roddick, who also participated in the US Open, voiced in on the situation, “It’s just something that happens. It’s just unfortunate it happened in front of you all. Every single player in there has had that happen before. Every single one.

We’re glad to hear Rafael is doing better, we know those leg cramps can be horrible. Click read more to see the video of Rafael collapsing during the press conference.

9 years ago today America crowned Kelly Clarkson its first ‘Idol’

9 years ago today America crowned Kelly Clarkson its first ‘Idol’

Oh how time flies! Today marks the 9th anniversary of America choosing Kelly Clarkson as its first American Idol. The Ft. Worth, Texas native [20 years of age at the time] went on to capture America’s heart with her impressive voice and bubbly personality. Eventually, beating heartthrob Justin Guarini with 58% of the finale votes and winning the title of the first ever American Idol.

Kelly’s memorable performances of Stuff Like That There, Respect, Natural Woman, and A Moment Like This have been cemented into Idol history and still stand as some Idol’s best performances. Kelly’s first [coronation] single ‘A Moment like This‘ went on to break a Billboard record for “biggest leap on the charts to #1″ that was previously owned by the Beatles. Kelly’s record was eventually broken by Britney Spears in 2008 but Clarkson managed to break that record yet again in 2009 when her single ‘My Life Would Suck Without You‘ jumped from 97 to 1.

Kelly Clarkson and Idol have proved that they’re more than just a reality show fad, both have had successful and memorable careers in the past 9 years. Idol, which recently wrapped its tenth season, is still a ratings juggernaut and has managed to produce various other super stars; such as: Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Kris Allen, Jennifer Hudson, and Jordin Sparks. Kelly now a multi-platinum award winning artist has released 4 hit albums [Thankful, Breakaway, the much underrated My December, and All I Ever Wanted], has had many hit singles [Miss Independent, Since U Been Gone, Because of You, Walk Away, Never Again, and My Life Would Suck Without You… just to name some], and has won numerous awards [including 2 Grammy’s in 2006 and winning runner-up on World Idol – 2003]. She is currently promoting her latest single ‘Mr. Know It All‘ the first single off her upcoming album ‘Stronger‘, which is being released October 25.
